Spend a day at Whitefish City Beach and you’ll see what we mean: the water in Whitefish Lake almost rivals the clear, pristine waters of the Caribbean on a warm, sunny day, while the beautiful mountain backdrops in the distance will remind you that you’re still very much in Montana. Swoon! In the fall, the foliage in Whitefish, Montana, is downright dreamy. This town has been called out by numerous publications as the premier destination for fall foliage in the PNW, and we definitely agree! The fall colors juxtaposed with the stark mountains and forested hills make for a scene that’s truly exceptional. What are some other walkable towns in Montana? In terms of walkable downtowns in Montana, it’s hard to beat Livingston. Walking through downtown Livingston truly feels like a step back in town to the Wild West. This is such a neat town and it’s particularly wonderful to check out during summer in Montana. Virginia City may be a tourist town, but it’s also one of the most famous living, breathing ghost towns in Montana, and it’s loaded with local history.
