Fall is upon us and while heading to the beach and enjoying seafood may not be on our minds, maybe it should. The Wellfleet OysterFest is a much-anticipated small-town fall festival in Massachusetts and it’s one you won’t want to miss.
The town of Wellfleet is world-renowned for its oysters. So it may be unsurprising that this small Cape Cod beach town hosts an annual oyster festival each fall.

This year marks the 22nd Annual Wellfleet OysterFest. It will be held on October 15th and 16th from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Baker’s Field.
Wellfleet SPAT/Facebook Free parking is available at Wellfleet’s town beaches (Lecount Hollow, White Crest, and Newcomb Hollow). Shuttle service will be provided to and from the event.
This event is produced by Wellfleet SPAT, Shellfish Promotion and Tasting, Inc., a local non-profit dedicated to “sustaining Wellfleet’s shellfishing and aquaculture industries.” Tickets for the Wellfleet OysterFest can be purchased on the Wellfleet SPAT website.

One of the most exciting parts of the Wellfleet OysterFest is the Oyster Shucking Contest. The preliminaries will be held on Saturday, October 15th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. while the finals are held on Sunday, October 16th from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. on the main stage.
