Located right near the state line that divides Nevada and California is a little park called Van Sickle Bi-State Park. Nestled in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, this park lets you explore some gorgeous hidden gems around Lake Tahoe. Few people even know this place exists!

This park is unique in a couple of different ways. It’s one of the few parks in the country that is located in two different states at once. It’s also one of Nevada’s newest parks (it opened up in 2011). The park is full of scenic hiking trails, but you’ll definitely want to start with the Van Sickle Rim Trail Connector.

The trail is quite lengthy, as it circles the entirety of the park’s lake. You don’t need to complete the entire trek to get a good taste of all the beauty this trail has to offer. After just two miles, you’ll come across plenty of great scenery, including two charming little waterfalls.
