When searching for waterfalls near me in Idaho, you’ll find that many of the state’s falls require a long, strenuous hike to reach them … but not all. In fact, one of the most underrated waterfalls in Idaho can be found at the end of this easy, 2.5-mile round-trip trail. The falls at the end are actually manmade, but it’s still a stunning sight to witness. It’s definitely worth taking on the next time you feel like a quick ‘n easy adventure!

Tucked away in Moody Creek Canyon just southeast of Rexburg is an abandoned dam-turned-waterfall. It’s known both as Webster’s Dam and Manmade Falls and finding it makes an easy and gorgeous adventure.

The toughest part is getting to the trailhead. To find it, go south on S Yellowstone Highway and toward the town of Herbert. From Herbert, take Browns Road and go past Warming Hut 33 approximately four miles. The trailhead is at the top of a hill.

The trail starts off on a dirt road that’s mainly used for off-roading. It winds through a gorgeous wooded area and is pretty even for the first mile or so.

After the first mile, the trail comes to a fork. Keep left for a gradual descent down to the falls. If you’d like a more challenging route, you can go right where the trail makes a steep descent. If you decide on the steep route, be advised that good hiking shoes are definitely recommended.

Once at the bottom, you’ll finally come across the unique Manmade Falls. The falls were created from an old dam that doesn’t hold water anymore. Instead, the abandoned dam has created two flowing waterfalls. It’s a pretty awesome sight, especially in such an unassuming location!

Flowing underneath a quaint footbridge, the first waterfall is simply picturesque. The second waterfall cascades over an outcropping of rocks. If you want, you can carefully hike down to the bottom of it and stand underneath the falls.
