Despite its official nickname being the Pine Tree state, most people know Maine as simply Vacationland. One visit and you’ll see why! Living here feels a lot like being on a permanent vacation, which is why we can’t fault tourists for coming here in droves. With so many people from away enjoying the state, we’ve found that we love finding spots that are relatively undiscovered. This place, sitting all the way up in The County, is a great example. For local Mainers, this spot feels like an actual vacation no matter what time of year you visit!
If you’re willing to make your way to The County (of, if you’re lucky enough to already be there!) you’ll want to head to The Long Lake Sporting Club in Sinclair.

The restaurant occupies about a half-mile of waterfront which makes it easy to take in the surrounding beauty. This is especially true in the summer when dining on the patio is essential.

Long Lake Sporting Club is open year-round and each season feels like a trip outside of the every day. You won’t find a dedicated tropical theme here, but there’s something about the palm trees on the patio and lights on the bar that make things feel just a little bit tropical.

If the summer feels like a beach vacation, the winter brings some serious ski lodge vibes. Locals park their sleds out front to enjoy time with friends and family inside. You just won’t find things like this in other states.

The decor and atmosphere here are outstanding, but a restaurant is nothing without a great menu and Long Lake Sporting Club has one of the best. Healthy options like salads are great.
