Oregon’s state parks each have their own unique features and attractions, and they’re all great places to visit for recreation, scenic beauty, and history. White River Falls State Park is a lesser-known park in the state park system, but it’s well worth a visit. Check it out:
Take a journey to White River Falls State Park. It’s located in the Tygh Valley, just north of Maupin.
This vast landscape is home to the mighty White River, a stunning waterfall, and some interesting history. The park is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and there’s no fee to visit.

White Falls plunges 90 feet over soaring basalt cliffs. You’ll get an idea of the power of this waterfall as it thunders and crashes into the river below.

In 1910, Pacific Power and Light Company purchased this property in order to harness the power of the falls. The folks in Wasco and Sherman Counties benefitted from electricity generated here from 1910 to 1960.

Take a short, rugged trail down the mountain to see some of the remnants of the old hydroelectric power plant.
