From bars and breweries to trendy restaurants, it’s safe to say that Billings has enjoyed an influx of exciting new businesses in recent years. And while Montana’s largest city has never really been known for its modern coffee shops, one roasting company decided to change that a few years ago. Not only are the drinks at Legacy Coffee Roasters delicious, but in 2018 the cafe’s original location was named the most beautiful coffee shop in the state by Architectural Digest. Although Legacy Coffee Roasters has since changed locations, its new home is similarly aesthetically pleasing, and it remains one of the most beautiful coffee shops in Montana.

Legacy Coffee Roasters first opened in Billings in the spring of 2016 on an old corner on Montana Avenue. Initially, it was called MoAv Coffee.

In 2019, Legacy Coffee opened a second location (and a roastery) on Grand Avenue, on the west end of town. Now, Legacy Coffee Roasters is solely at this location.

The cafe is filled with natural sunlight, with beams of light pouring in from wide windows and bouncing off the walls.

Co-owners Jeff Hosa and Paul Aspen decided to open this place because they felt the Billings coffee scene wasn’t on par with what it should have been.

The coffee beverages here are simple, tasteful, and high-quality.

MoAV Coffee Facebook If you’re used to a classic drive-thru espresso stand with Italian sodas on the menu, you’ll want to prepare yourself for something more sophisticated. And since Legacy Coffee Roasters now roasts their own beans, you can count on the flavor being consistent.

In addition to the wonderful coffee, you can also enjoy a tasty breakfast or light lunch when you’re in the cafe.

Nothing beats enjoying a beverage at a coffee shop with character. We also love the Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe.

At Rising Trout Cafe & Bookstore in the small city of Lewistown, you’ll find books and artwork to enjoy along with your latte. The Coffee Pot Bakery & Cafe in Bozeman is like something out of a Hallmark movie, with its charming cabin-like interior and delicious slices of pie alongside locally roasted coffee, plus pottery made on-site.
