Boasting 13 sandy beaches, Presque Isle State Park in Erie draws vacationers from all over Pennsylvania and beyond, especially during the summertime. However, just 14 miles from the popular state park sits Erie Bluffs State Park in Pennsylvania, a much smaller destination that’s perfect if you’re craving a bit of peace and quiet. It’s well worth the visit next time you’re in the area.
If you want to swim in Lake Erie, go to one of the beaches at Presque Isle State Park. However, if you want to connect with nature, head over to Erie Bluffs State Park.

While the cozy 587-acre state park doesn’t allow swimming, it promises a whole lot more and has the largest undeveloped stretch of land alongside Lake Erie in the state.

More than five miles of hiking trails wander through the picturesque park and will take you through an old-growth forest, over a sprawling meadow, and to sweeping views of the lake.

Only hiking is allowed in the park, and park officials request that all visitors stay on the paths to help prevent the destruction of vegetation and erosion of the land.
