There’s something so wonderful about walking around a charming small town, especially if there’s a downtown area to explore. And there’s probably no better town in the Bay State than Chatham to explore on foot. Chatham is not only one of the most walkable towns in Massachusetts but also in America. Let’s take a look at what this town has in store in downtown Chatham.

There’s something quite alluring about a New England town like Chatham. Set along the water at the elbow of Cape Cod, Chatham’s downtown area with its upscale shops and restaurants can be explored on foot.

Perhaps the most whimsical store found on Chatham’s Main Street is Ducks In The Window, the largest rubber duck store in the world. You can’t help but smile as you browse through this shop and see hundreds of styles of ducks lining the shelves and windows.

Chatham, Massachusetts September 23, 2022 Chris Dodge What are some of the best things to do in Chatham, Massachusetts? We already mentioned how walkable the whole town is, that alone is one of the best things about Chatham. On a warm summer day, just walking outside and taking in this small charming town can be a great way to experience it. Being a coastal town, one of the most scenic options in Chatham is the beach. There are plenty of beaches lining this little town on the Cape. A few that we would suggest you explore would be Forest Beach, with its soft white sand, and right next to it is the Ridgevale Beach. If you wanted to spend the night in a lovely little cabin right by the seashore, Chatham Seaside Cottages would be a perfect place to look. Harding Beach is another great spot to lay out a towel and sit in the sun. Any of these beaches are a great place to take a walk on the sand as well. If you are in search of lighthouses, then Cape Cod is a perfect place to find some of the best ones. Take a day and spend some time on a lighthouse road trip. Pack your camera and you will take off on a great lighthouse adventure. One of the lighthouses on the trip will be the famous Chatham Lighthouse which is a classic and iconic light right in this small charming town. All of the exploring and fun that can be had in the Cape sure will work up an appetite. So, head on over to Hanger B Eatery for a unique restaurant in an old aircraft hanger. They have amazing breakfast items and are truly considered a hidden gem in Chatham. So walk the town, explore the beaches, and enjoy the lighthouses.
