As one of the original 13 colonies, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is home to some of the most historic places in the country. One haunted and historic house in Massachusetts we are going to discuss today is The House of the Seven Gables.
Made famous in a work of literature by author Nathaniel Hawthorne, The House of the Seven Gables is worth a visit by both history buffs and ghost hunters alike.

Built in 1668, this mansion sits along the sea in Salem, Massachusetts, and once belonged to Captain John Turner I. Since his death in 1680, it was owned by several generations of the Turner family followed by the Ingersoll family.

There are many people throughout the years that have seen things that can only be described as paranormal. From shadowy figures to the ghost of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s very own cousin, Susan Ingersoll, who had lived at The House of the Seven Gables, there is a certain belief that hauntings do happen here.

Even the attic has seen its fair share of activity. Apparently a spectre of a little boy can occasionally be seen playing here. And those who are downstairs may hear footsteps and a child’s laughter.
