Cheering up can sometimes be as simple as a good snack or your favorite movie, but what if you like to travel? Known as the friendliest town in the South, Tryon, North Carolina is a great little place to visit for a pick-me-up type of adventure. Inside and out, this town has made sure that everyone knows what Southern Hospitality is like at the core.

Welcome to a spot known as the “Friendliest Town in the South” by many visitors over more than 125 years. It’s a tiny little town, but never feels empty because of just how friendly it is here.

Tryon has a lot of history dating back to Cherokee native tribes hunting on the land for thousands of years before the Spanish arrived. Spaniards arrived in 1540 in search of gold, but moved on. Later, Tryon was established with a post office in 1839 and named after the governor, William Tryon.

Being the friendliest town around is usually not that hard, but claiming the whole south as your friendly competition is a tough race to finish first in. They don’t call it Southern Hospitality for nothing, after all.

These days, you can grab a bite to eat at a local cafe and explore town along with all the friendly faces you’ll find working on Trade Street. Feeling like family is all part of the experience out here.

Local natural beauties like Pearson Falls give you a reason to go outside of town and explore as well. Getting a taste for the beautiful scenery around these parts helps make you understand just what makes this area so beloved.

What do you think? Tyron sure seems like a nice place to visit, but not everyone is prepared for small town life, so maybe don’t look up houses for sale just yet. It’s definitely time to plan a road trip to the friendliest town in North Carolina, though!
