In 1989, owner and baker Marjan Beebe came to the United States from the Netherlands to visit her brother. During her short visit, she fell in love with Kinderhook native Keith Beebe. Marjan soon moved to Kinderhook to be with Keith and the couple got married.

Early on in their relationship, Keith told Marjan that he loves apple pie. Marjan told him that her Dutch Apple Tart was even better than any apple pie. She baked it for him, and he agreed. It was the best things Keith ever tasted.

Today, Marjan offers her tarts in a variety of flavors including blueberry, raspberry, and peach, among others.
