Many people head to Maryland’s Assateague Island during summertime. This eastern shore gem is known for its free-roaming wild horses and its long stretches of white sand. Did you know that Assateague Island also offers hiking trails? The following one includes a sandy path the entire way, and it offers views unlike any other in the Old Line State. Check it out below!
When heading to Assateague Island in Maryland, you can either visit the state park side or the national park side. Today’s featured trail is on the national park side.

This is the Life of the Dunes Trail, and it’s one of several short trails offered in the area.

This unique trail is 3/4-miles in length, though it might it might seem a bit longer when trudging through the sandy path. This is a lot of work on your legs!

You’ll also arrive at Baltimore Boulevard, which is an unfinished road hiding on the island.

There were once dreams of a resort community on Assateague Island, but due to the rough and everchanging terrain, this road was never finished. However, you can still walk across the remains today.
