Since 1960, the alluring aroma of culinary delights has drawn hungry visitors to the east side of Indianapolis. Whether the hankering is for blueberry pancakes, a quesadilla, or a Big Steer Burger – the big draw is to eat at a “Steer-In.” The name has changed a few times over the years, but the goal to offer good food is intact. Indianapolis-based restauranteur group Laughner Brothers purchased the property in the late 1950s and changed the name to Laughner’s Steer-In. The venture was short-lived, however, and the company sold the restaurant to Harold Philips in 1964. He renamed it Harold’s Steer-In and ran the Indiana drive-in restaurant until 2007.
At that time, the Kehrer family became the new proprietor, changing the name to Historic Steer-In as it is known today.
