When you think of haunted places in Connecticut, your mind probably goes to spots like cemeteries, or maybe abandoned hospitals or other places that are typically viewed as creepy. But can you find plenty of other spots that have rumors of ghosts and goblins swirling around them. One place that you wouldn’t suspect to be the subject of spooky stories is a park. After all, parks are typically serene places to enjoy nature. But right here in Stratford, you’ll find Boothe Memorial Park, an allegedly haunted park that’s beautiful, historic, and, if you believe the stories, filled with ghosts.

Boothe Memorial Park is an absolutely lovely 32-acre oasis tucked away in Stratford overlooking the Housatonic River.

The park is filled with unusual buildings, like a windmill, mini lighthouse, clock tower, and chapel. The buildings were placed there by the eccentric family that owned the property and would eventually donate it to the town.

The home here is possibly the oldest homestead in America. The house itself was built in 1840, but it sits upon the remains of a foundation built in 1663 and has been continuously occupied for hundreds of years.

With such a storied history, its not that surprising that the park is supposedly haunted!

Allegedly, the Boothe brothers that lived here and built all the unusual buildings studied spiritualism here in the early 20th-century. Several teams of modern-day ghost hunters have explored the park and claim to have seen unexplained balls of lights and heard odd noises.
