This Great Beach In Nebraska Lets You Camp With Your Horse

A beach in Nebraska? Yes, please! There are actually quite a few nice beaches in Nebraska where you can spend the day relaxing. Branched Oak Lake about 20 miles north of Lincoln is one of those lovely beaches. While it’s popular for boaters, there are great swimming areas roped off for swimmers with sandy areas for sunbathing or sand castle building. And if horseback riding is your thing, you can even bring your equine buddy along with you!

Head over to Branched Oak State Recreation Area in Raymond, Nebraska for a fun-filled day or weekend at the beach. Just an hour’s drive from Omaha and 20 miles north of Lincoln, this lake offers so much to visitors.

Branched Oak Lake is actually the largest lake in eastern Nebraska. It is well-known for boating and camping, but also offers two sandy swimming beaches.

For visitors interested in getting out on the water, there is a marina on the lake that rents out boats, kayaks, and paddleboards. So you can spend some of your day on the beach and some of your day out on the water!

Horse owners rejoice! This lake has the unique feature of including an equestrian campground. Area 2 of the park has 15 pull-through Equestrian Electric Plus campsites. There are also 14 corrals and 3 miles of horse trails.
