Acadia National Park is simply one of the most beautiful places in Maine. Travelers from all over make their way to this popular destination. This park has been in the top ten most visited parks in our country. Year after year, thousands of people will come to enjoy this amazing piece of land. Mount Desert Island has a plethora of great activities, but this easy trail in Acadia will be a peaceful departure from hikes like the Precipice Trail.

Jordan Pond is unbelievably beautiful, with crystal clear water gently simmering over smooth rocks.

Joseph Matarese/ Alltrails Nestled in a valley with tall and rolling hills surrounding this little pond. There is no doubt this is a sight to behold. When you start the trail you will be at the Jordan Pond House. Take a moment while at the water’s edge to just capture the time. It is one of those places you do not want to rush. Take it in slow, this will be one of those views you will remember for the rest of your life.

The trail is flat and is a loop so at the water you can go left or right.

Joseph DiFalco/ Alltrails This loop will take you 3.1 miles completely around the pond. Along the way, you will walk on a long section with boards as a bridge over a sensitive ecosystem. This section is very unique and gives way to plenty of amazing views of Jordan Pond.

You will want to take your time on this trail because there are lots of places to stop to take in more views.

Tom Cohen/ Alltrails Going around the pond will allow you to get all kinds of different angles of this beautiful water. Jordan Pond is an incredibly busy place in Acadia, you will see lots of people on this trail. The further you get down the trail the fewer people you will find too. That being said we recommend taking advantage of these rock sections to spend a moment in peace along the water’s edge.

You know you have made it halfway when you cross this unique bridge.

Mount Desert Island can be subject to some weird weather conditions sometimes.

SarahPrince09/ Flickr If you catch Jordan Pond on an overcast and rainy day do not fear. This trail still has a beauty that somehow surprises the gloomy weather. When the fog rolls in and rest over the water it gives it an eerier yet sleepy vibe to it.

Then when the sky is clear you will be greeted by this stunning pond.

Max Thompson/ Alltrails We recommend you go out early and spend some time on the rocks for a moment of absolute peace. Soak in the view of the surrounding area as the water gently laps around the rocks creating a cadence that is hard to not fall into its rhythm.
