When people think of Southern California, images of all the glorious beaches that grace this part of the country typically come to mind. But let’s not forget that SoCal is also home to many other splendid destinations that are equally as breathtaking and picturesque. So today, we’re going to bypass the beach and see a new side of SoCal – a quaint lakeside town by the name of Crestline. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Crestline, California, one of the most scenic little locales in SoCal!
The town of Crestline is a blissful mountain destination that’s also home to a charming lakeside community.

Located in the San Bernardino National Forest, Crestline is nestled inside a dense pine and cedar forest setting that feels like it’s a thousand miles away from the bustling city even though it’s only a short 20-minute drive from San Bernardino.

Lake Gregory is a picturesque lake that makes Crestline a popular lakeside destination to visit year-round.

Or, if you don’t have a boat of your own, the Lake Gregory Boat House is a great spot for rentals. Make sure to check the operating hours before you visit as the hours change depending on the season.

Although Crestline is a wonderful year-round destination, you’ll find that Lake Gregory is at its height of activity during the summer season.

Especially right on the lake where there is a giant play structure that both kids and adults flock too on a hot SoCal day.

things to do in crestline July 09, 2022 Sarah M. What are some other amazing getaways in Southern California? Crestline certainly makes for an amazing day trip or vacation in SoCal, but our region of the Golden State is positively teeming with charming little locales well-suited for a getaway. Our favorite? Terranea Resort! Dramatically situated at the edge of the Pacific Ocean on Southern California’s Palos Verdes Peninsula, Terranea Resort is 102 acres of picture-perfect paradise. A mix of classic Mediterranean architecture and laid-back SoCal vibes, Terranea Resort is unlike any other place in the country. The resort features a variety of accommodation options including luxurious suites, bungalows, casitas, and villas. While at the resort, guests can choose from an endless array of world-class activities and amenities, including myriad five-star dining options, an acclaimed spa, a prestigious golf course, ocean kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding, surfing and archery lessons, horseback riding, and even whale watching. What are some other small-town day trips in SoCal? One of our favorite ways to explore SoCal is by car via a good, old-fashioned road trip. And there’s nothing more “old-fashioned” than Route 66. If you are looking for a little weekend getaway that’s not too far away, take this SoCal road trip through four of the most beguiling little locales in our corner of CA. There’s something for everyone on this trip, from pies to casinos. Some amazing destinations along the way include the towns of Ramona, Julian, and Alpine, each of which make for charming small-town day trips in SoCal in and of themselves!
