These days, we’re loving the quiet ones that frequently fall off the radar. These wildlife trails in New Hampshire, located in Newbury, are a great example.
While not as well known as some of the other natural spots in the state, the Stoney Brook Wildlife Sanctuary in Newbury is worth a visit.

The sanctuary got its start in 1988 when local landowners began working to preserve the area from increased Lake Sunapee development. It began as a 362-acre area. Later, the group added even more land. Today, the sanctuary is comprised of 617 acres and offers two trails for visitors to enjoy.

As two of the most beautiful wildlife trails in New Hampshire, each route is worth exploring when you visit.

The Marsh View Trail is about 0.7 miles and follows red blazes. After starting, you should complete the route in about one hour.

Another beauty is the Beech Hill Trail, which is about 1.5 miles and typically takes about an hour and a half round-trip. Be sure to follow the white blazes on this route.

The sanctuary is open throughout the year, which means it’s easy to see how the landscape of hardwood forest changes in different seasons.
