We love our food here in Arkansas. We certainly enjoy good down home cooked meals. Besides good cookin’, we also love warm homemade pies – you know, the kind that reminds us of being at grandma’s house. And in the heart of Arkansas, there are a few restaurants serving up some of these mouthwatering goodness. Not only are these places charming, but they are also worthy of a road trip to try the sweet treats.

This 220-mile road trip will be approximately four hours of driving. It will begin in Conway, and you’ll end up in Hot Springs.

Our first stop on this road trip is the adorable PattiCakes Bakery in Conway.

PattiCakes Bakery/Facebook PattiCakes Bakery, 2106 Robinson Ave, Conway, AR 72034, USA

Jennifer Barakat/Google PattiCakes was just voted the best bakery in Arkansas by AY Magazine. While this is a traditional bakery specializing in cakes, cookies, cupcakes, as well as other yummy treats, do not miss a chance to try one of the homemade pies. As you can see from the pie case, you have plenty to choose from. We recommend the possum pie, as you know it’s an Arkansas favorite.

Now, let’s drive to Searcy and stop in at Daisy’s Lunchbox Cafe and Bakery.

Daisy’s Lunchbox Cafe/Facebook The owner Suzanne learned how to cook from her grandmother. And she named this award-winning bakery after her mother’s beloved pup Daisy. So, this cafe and bakery is both charming and filled with down home roots. Don’t hesitate to try one of the delicious menu items, but be sure to save room for the scrumptious homemade pies. The strawberry pie is a local favorite, and you’ll love it.

Next on our road trip is Ms. Lena’s Pie Shop in De Valls Bluff.

Ms. Lena’s Pies/Facebook If you have never had a reason to visit De Valls Bluff, then you have just found one. The pies here are so good that patrons will line up for the chance to eat a slice of this yummy goodness. While this pie shop serves “the best darn fried pies in the South,” you must try the coconut cream pie for yourself.

Charlotte’s Eats and Sweets in Keo is our next pie shop.

Smithfamilycares/Google Charlotte’s Eats & Sweets, 290 Main St, Keo, AR 72083, USA

The shop has been recognized by Southern Living as having one of the best pies in the area. So, it doesn’t matter which pie you choose; you will find something that will satisfy your sweet tooth. But get there early to avoid the crowds.

Morrison’s Fried Pies in Hot Springs is the last stop on this road trip.

Joel Monterrey/Google Morrison’s Fried Pies, 1333 Albert Pike Rd, Hot Springs, AR 71913, USA

Morrison’s Fried Pies/Facebook The only way to make pies better is to deep fry them, right? And Morrison has done just that. The food truck serves up both sweet and savory pies in crispy handheld crusts. Though the savory pies are yummy, you must try one of the sweet sensations. And with flavors like apple, blackberry, chocolate, coconut, and more, you will not make a bad choice.

Well folks, these are just five of the charming pie shops in the heart of Arkansas. But we know there are many others that we can include.
