Unfortunately. this year there are a few Georgia towns that may receive coal in their stocking. Now, we’re not talking murder and mayhem within these town limits that led to being considered the worst. But instead, we’re talking about towns in Georgia which have had the most statistically upsetting numbers, whether that be highest unemployment rates, per capita crime, and low education factors, just to name a few. In fact, these findings are in accordance with FBI crime data, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and census information. You may be surprised at some of these places that made the list. Here they are without further adieu, the naughtiest spots in Georgia.
- Swainsboro, Georgia
Flickr Melinda Stuart The reason that Swainboro, Georgia is on Santa’s Naughty List this year is because statistically their unemployment rate is at an all-time-high. It clocks in at a whopping 9%, almost double the national average. It’s one of the highest unemployment rates in the state, not to mention the 12th highest crime rate in Georgia.
- Bainbridge, Georgia
Wikimedia While the unemployment rate in Bainbridge matches that of Swainsboro, the crime rate may actually be worse. Statiscally, 1 in 140 residents have a chance of being the victim of a violent crime.
- Cordele, Georgia
Flickr Mike Many may be surprised to see Cordele, Georgia on this list, but it seems statistically where it belongs. With around 11,000 residents, the crime is pretty terrible, not to mention there are far too many people living below the poverty line.
- Fort Valley, Georgia
Flickr Jimmy Emerson DVM What many people don’t know about this small town is that in 2013, 1 in 87 people were either attacked, raped or killed. That makes this place a very naughty town in Georgia.
- Eastman, Georgia
Flickr J. Stephen Conn Eastman, Georgia have around 5,000 residents, and unfortunately when scientifically factoring crime per capita, that makes the crime rate in Eastman quite high. Not to mention unemployment is well above average, as well.
- Millen, Georgia
Wikimedia While Millen, Georgia may be in a state of repair, it has been a high crime town for years now. While the national average of crime (theft, assault, robbery, arson, etc.) was at 304.4, Millen, Georgia was at 407.3.
- Macon, Georgia
Flickr Josh Lower While Macon may have a higher population than many others places on this list, it still has troubled crime rate and unemployment levels. In fact, while the nation average of crime came in a 291.8 points, Macon came in as high as 700 points in some years.
- Waynesboro, Georgia

Now, this list doesn’t necessarily mean that these towns don’t have solid, kind, hard-working citizens and are full of interesting history. It just means that statistically, they may not be getting a friendly visit from Santa this year.
