The World S Largest Coffee Pot Is In Pennsylvania

A drive down any road in Pennsylvania is sure to result in a few surprises, but you might not expect to drive by a…giant coffee pot. If you’re traveling through Bedford, however, that’s just what you’ll encounter. The World’s Largest Coffee Pot in Pennsylvania is perhaps the most unique attraction – and just a fun thing to say you’ve visited.

Officially known as the Big Coffee Pot, this gigantic roadside attraction has been tucked along West Pitt Street in Bedford since 1927.

Standing 18 feet high, the coffee pot boasts a rich history. When it first opened, it served as a luncheonette.

The luncheonette sat right next door to a gas station, making it a convenient stop for both locals and those passing through - grab a bite to eat and fill up in one fell swoop.

Bert Koontz, the owner of the gas station, was the brainchild behind this nearly century-old roadside attraction in Pennsylvania.

The Big Coffee Pot changed purposes over the years - transforming into a bar in 1937. As time wore on and the pot was put up for sale, it sat unoccupied and began to fall apart.

However, the Big Coffee Pot was eventually moved across the street from its original spot and restored by Lincoln Highway Heritage Park Corridor.

Today, visitors stop by the Big Coffee Pot to take photos, to snap selfies, and to check out the gift shop.
