Alabama’s Walls of Jericho is a scenic area covering approximately 12,500 acres in Jackson County. In fact, because of its massive size, it’s best known as the “Grand Canyon of the South.”

The Walls of Jericho Trail is an 8.1-mile, out-and-back trail with a hard level of difficulty. Because of this difficult rating, this trail isn’t recommended for beginner hikers.

While hiking the Walls of Jericho Trail, you’ll cross Hurricane Creek and Turkey Creek. Turkey Creek, which is pictured below, will lead you to the end of the trail.

The “Walls,” which are made from limestone and resemble an amphitheater, are waiting for you at the end of the trail. However, the waterfall that’s hidden within the “Walls” is why most people choose to hike this difficult trail. Even though the journey of reaching this waterfall is quite challenging, the waterfall itself makes it so worth it!
