It’s hard to beat the beauty of Oregon’s waterfalls. From the majestic Multnomah Falls to the misty curtains of Ramona Falls, each of our waterfalls has its own unique characteristics. While some falls like Multnomah, Toketee, and Tumalo get all the press, there are others that are seriously underrated.
Take the short, easy hike to Henline Falls to find one of our favorites.
Note: Unfortunately, since the time of publication much of this area has been damaged due to the Beachie Creek Fire.
Henline Falls is located in the Willamette National Forest, in the Opal Creek Wilderness Area. You’ll find it about 32 miles east of Silver Falls State Park.

Mining was once a thriving industry in this area, and you can still see remnants of the past, including the crumbling foundation of the old power plant and an abandoned mine shaft.
Yvonne Harju/Alltrails You can explore a bit of the mine shaft, but be aware of low ceilings and slippery floors. Though the mine tunnels into the mountain 1,700 feet, you’ll be limited to around 30 feet before you reach a bat gate that blocks your passage.
The trail is surrounded by tall firs, sword ferns, and wildflowers. Enjoy the beautiful scenery and keep an eye out for wildlife, too.
