1. That’s the year West Virginia’s two longest-running Dairy Queen restaurants both opened their doors. Do you realize what that means? It means these two DQs have been serving up mouthwatering ice cream, burgers, hot dogs, and more for nearly seven whole decades.

Both of the Mountain State’s oldest Dairy Queens opened in 1954, one in Sistersville, West Virginia, and one in Buckhannon, West Virginia. And both are still going strong.

The Diary Queen in Buckhannon, on the other hand, has preserved its old-timey feel and is one of the only Dairy Queen restaurants in the nation to still operate as it did originally, as a “walk-up” restaurant.
