In Pine City, Minnesota, a hidden trail leads to a beautiful footbridge. The trail is unmarked, so the only way to find it is to be in the know. From town, head down Highway 8 - also called St. Croix Road - for several miles until you reach an unpaved parking area.

When you get out of your car, you’ll notice that the path seems pretty undeveloped. That’s because it is. It’s unpaved, but it is a clear path through the woods. The hike is short but beautiful, passing through a lush forest with a high canopy.

In no time at all, a bridge will come into view. It looks like it doesn’t belong, being surrounded by thick woods on both sides. There are no other developments nearby.

Known by locals as the Million Dollar Bridge, it certainly is an impressive sight. The main walkway is wooden with a tall metal arch rising over it.

The bridge crosses the Snake River. This stretch of river is lovely, with tree-lined banks. You can often spot people boating or fishing below.

Other trails lead below the bridge to the river banks. This is also a beautiful view. This hidden footbridge, tucked away in the woods, looks like something out of a fairytale!
