The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge, more commonly known as BREC oversees more than 170 parks in the Greater Baton Rouge Area. One of the parks BREC oversees is the Comite River Park, a secluded little park in Baton Rouge with an incredible little nature trail that’s ideal for both hikers and bikers. Grab your gear and let’s check it out:

Comite River Park clocks in at about 100 acres, stretching along the beautiful Comite River as well at Cypress Bayou.

The hilly terrain makes it a popular spot for mountain bikers, but hikers can use the trail, too.

Pets are welcome, so bring your furry friend along for the adventure!

Christina Bolling/All Trails Just be sure to keep them on a leash.

The scenery along the trail is mesmerizing.

Daniel LeBlanc/All Trails The park also features picnic tables, restrooms, and a bike cleaning station.

You might even see some wildlife along the way.

There are several spots along the trail that open up to waterfront views.

Find yourself a patch of sand and sit for a spell and take in the view.

Travis Pryor/All Trails You’ll feel like you’re a million miles away from everything. It’s the perfect little spot to sit back and tune out all of the distractions in your life and just appreciate the little things. You might even find the urge to make a splash in the water!
