There’s no better way to see our state’s beautiful landscape than to take a hike. West Virginia is peppered with countless trails that will take you all over the countryside, showcasing some of the state’s most incredible views, and this particular hiking trail in West Virginia is one of the best.

The High Rocks Trail is located in Pocahontas County, and it’s easy to find.

Nestled within the Monongahela National Forest, the 3-mile trail is great for both kids and adults, so bring the whole family along for an adventure.

As you traverse through the forest, keep an eye (and an ear) out for the many songbirds in the area.

While you will be gaining some elevation along the trail (376 feet), it’s really not that bad when you consider the view that’s waiting for you at the end of the trail.

At the very top, you’ll be granted a stunning 180-degree view of the Little Levels Valley and the surrounding Appalachian Mountains.
