Take This Beautiful Stairway Trail In Ohio To Reach Brandywine Falls

Brandywine Falls is perhaps the most famous waterfall in the Midwest. But what few people realize is that the trail that leads to this spectacular waterfall is an adventure all its own. Winding its way through our beloved Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Brandywine Gorge Loop is a beautiful hike that features a wonderfully unique staircase trail in Ohio. Hidden deep within the woods, this staircase is like something from a fairytale, and where it leads is totally unforgettable. Here’s more on how you can reach the famous Brandywine Falls via a magical staircase trail.

There are a few ways to access Brandywine Falls in the beautiful Cuyahoga Valley National Park, but our favorite is via the Brandywine Gorge Trail.

It’s a moderately challenging route, measuring 1.4 miles round-trip. What makes it a little more difficult than your average loop is the staircase that leads you up to the waterfall.

In fact, you’ll have to tackle approximately 80 stairs to get to the top! Fortunately, the scenery is worth every step.

Before too long, you’ll have reached the main attraction: Brandywine Falls. This 60-foot waterfall is gorgeous anytime of year, but especially after a heavy rain.

The waterfall can impress just about anyone, especially those who are interested in natural history. Geologists believe the layers of Bedford and Cleveland shales were formed from mud that covered an ancient sea floor between 350-400 million years ago.
