There are all kinds of animals that make great pets – cats and dogs, of course, but also lizards, birds, chickens, and even pigs! But have you ever thought about an alpaca? Well, there’s a great place in Northern California where you can embark upon a fun and educational alpaca farm day trip. And who knows, you might end up taking one home too!

The Menagerie Hill Ranch Alpaca Farm is located in Vacaville, about 40 miles southwest of Sacramento.

Their focus is on the responsible treatment of animals, their land, and the environment, in the process educating others on the importance of sustainability.

Although they still own a few other creatures, their primary business is alpacas.

The alpacas here are cute, cuddly, and oh-so-soft!

You can also embark upon a full ranch tour (prior reservations are required) which provides more information and a deeper appreciation for what they do and about the alpaca lifecycle.

A lot of people come here to take photographs with the Menagerie Hill Ranch “kiddos.”

On the property there is also a ranch store.
