Oakland, Maryland, is found on the far western corner of the state, along the border of West Virginia. Near Oakland, you can find Swallow Falls Canyon Trail, a quaint little hike that brings you to Swallow Waterfall that’s perfect for a quick walk whenever you’re looking to get outside for some fresh air. There’s nothing more relaxing and refreshing than walking or hiking along a moving body of water with the roar of a waterfall in the background. You can experience that here if you follow the short, mile-long trail to Swallow Falls.
