A lot of the time when we think about spending the day at one of New York’s stunning swimming holes, we gravitate towards the cold pools of mountain water we’ll find within the Catskills. Like some of our other frequently visited waterfalls, Split Rock Falls has been home to unfortunate casualties. Over the years, cliff jumpers have found themselves injured, making it important to acknowledge when the falls are too powerful to jump into.
Don’t feel discouraged from visiting here though, the swimming hole is favorite place for many of us to visit.

This is a lovely day trip for anyone. The falls are beautiful. What should I bring when visiting the falls? You’ll want to wear sturdy shoes for the walk to the falls. The rocks can get quite slippery. You’ll also want to bring a towel to sit on and to dry off. You will also want to bring water and maybe some snacks but please be sure to pack out what you brought in. Bring a trash bag and pick up others’ trash while you’re at it, too.
