If you’re looking for delicious BBQ in the United States, people are often going to refer you to the same areas. Memphis is known for amazing ribs, slathered in a slightly sweet sauce that incorporates both vinegar and tomatoes. Kansas City typically has a thicker sauce, which is also slightly sweet. Carolina style is a tangier, less sweet sauce. Collectively, those are the hubs that people are talking about when they’re after a great BBQ. But that doesn’t mean you can’t find it well-executed anywhere else, like, say, Illinois. In fact, South Moon BBQ, about a 90-minute drive west of Chicago, is making some of the best barbecue in the Land of Lincoln!

South Moon BBQ opened as a business 14 years ago and was an immediate hit in the neighborhood. They offer indoor and outdoor dining, as well as carry-out options.
