Alabama boasts many incredible waterfalls. While some of them are quite easy to find, many others are somewhat hidden and require a hike to reach them. One of these hidden waterfalls is Sougahoagdee Falls, which is tucked away inside North Alabama’s William B. Bankhead National Forest. Many people are surprised that this mystical waterfall is hiding within the forest, and they’re very excited when they finally discover it. To reach Sougahoagdee Falls, you’ll follow the Sougahoagdee Falls Trail, which is a 4-mile, out-and-back trail with an easy level of difficulty.

You’ll want to begin your hike from Brushy Creek Bridge on Hickory Grove Road. Once you get to this bridge, you’ll simply follow the creek upstream. It’s that simple!

Keep in mind that you’ll have to cross the creek a few times and traverse some rough terrain during your journey, but overall, the hike is easy to tackle.
