At first glance, you might think new Sebago beach is in a tropical place. But, while it might be hard to believe, this beauty is actually located in Maine. And, it’s not too far off the beaten path.

Sebago Lake is the second largest in the state, which makes it unsurprising that it’s also got one of the largest lakeside beaches to enjoy. The lake, located northwest of Portland, is comprised of more than 28,000 acres.

Its massive size means that Sebago Lake Maine is surrounded by 6 different towns - Casco, Naples, Raymond, Sebago, Standish and Windham. At a depth of 316 feet, the Sebago is also one of the state’s deepest inland bodies of water.

Sebago Lake State Park is where you’ll find the best access to swimming. It might be surprising, though, when you first enter. The woods here are thick, making it hard to believe that a lake with clear blue water awaits you!

Sebago Boat Tours is the way to go for cruises, or if you prefer, Sebago Trails Paddling Company offers kayak, paddleboard, and canoe rentals. Either way, it’s sure to be a fun time out on this gorgeous lake.
The size of Lake Sebago makes for a number of beaches. Some of the most popular are Songo River Beach (which is located inside the state park), Tassel Top Beach in Raymond, Nason’s Beach and the Town of Sebago Public Beach in Sebago.

You’ll need to try them all to find the one you like best. Especially if you prefer quiet. Some are much more popular with families making them a bit more noisy and crowded.

To truly maximize your time at the beach, consider booking one of the park’s camping spots. This is something that’s virtually impossible to do at the coastal beaches.
