There are so many scenic drives in Virginia that simply selecting one can be a challenge. From the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive to the unforgettable Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, the Old Dominion is a state that’s fun to drive around. Today’s feature is another scenic drive that history enthusiasts will appreciate. The Colonial Parkway is a 23-mile route that connects historic Yorktown and Jamestown. Along the way, you can look forward to stunning vistas and an immersive look at our nation’s history.

Have you ever heard of Virginia’s historic triangle? It’s comprised of three towns integral to our state’s founding: Jamestown, Yorktown, and Williamsburg.

Completed in 1957, the Parkway offers drivers a safe and scenic way to experience Virginia’s immersive history.

The drive, which is also popular among bicyclists, passes by wooded forests and tidal channels. You’ll view the James and York Rivers and cross over several ponds and streams.

Near the towns, you’ll discover signs describing nearby points of interest, such as Powhatan’s Village.

Another point of interest is the Colonial Parkway Tunnel, which was built in 1942 and measures 1,190 feet long.
