And each year we especially look forward to one very special event in Boothbay Harbor. This year the Gardens Aglow will be better than ever as they return to their roots as a walking event! This is a very exciting announcement that is sure to be the best Christmas lights in Maine.
The Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor offers one of the most beautiful ways to get close to nature. And while winter might mean a break, we always look forward to their incredible light display, Gardens Aglow.

For the last couple of years before 2020, the entire grounds and parking lot have been lit up to celebrate the season and no special touches were left off the annual to-do list! For the last two years, they have hosted a drive-through event only, But a lot of things have changed this year. The garden has planned and made some changes to how to run things, returning to their roots. And we think this year might be even better than the last!

You can still expect more than 750,000 lights to greet you when you visit.

The grounds will be illuminated again with an enchanted forest walkthrough. The pond will be glimmering in the sparking light once again. Crowds of people will be eyeing the magic of this wonderful garden all lit up in its former glory.

As soon as darkness falls the grounds will not sit as if a silent night. No, instead the lights will be turned on the celebration really begins. Ticket sales will only be held online and must be purchased ahead of time. No ticket sales will be made at the door. Tickets will be sold by time slots starting at 4:00 PM. Then other time slots will be available from 5:30, 6:30, and 7:30.

While we loved the drive-through events for the past two years, but it was just different. So now going back to freely walking in the garden and seeing the lights, we think this is a great way to spend an evening.

Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor runs from November 19th through December 31st. For the most part, they’re open rain or shine but be prepared for cancellations during larger snow storms. As we mentioned earlier though, a little snow will only add to the absolute magic.

Everyone can have a wonderful winter fun time while enjoying time with their friends and family. Things will be different this year and we can not wait. Gardens Aglow takes an already magical time of the year and makes it truly special. We are sure that this year’s Gardens Aglow event will certainly prove that!
Tickets will be sold per person: $18 for adults, seniors (65+) will be $16, and Children (3-17) will be $10. Children under 3 will be free. They have a special price for a family with two adults and two children for $45. There are also discounts for members of the garden: $14 for adults and $8 for children.
