It’s no secret that the Truckee River is a Nevadan’s favorite place to spend the summer. Meandering right through the Reno-Tahoe region and flowing from California to Nevada, the river offers endless recreational opportunities—including tubing!

There are many reasons the Truckee River has become such a popular spot for those looking to cool off on a hot summer day. First of all, it’s easy to access from a variety of locations, and the scenery is simply stunning.

Floaters will find that there are a myriad of launch locations for tubing the Truckee. However, some of the most popular can be found at Mayberry Park, Dorostkar Park, and Criss Caughlin Park. Where you start really just depends on the amount of time you’d like to spend on the river.

For instance, the most popular tubing route starts at Mayberry Park and ends at Wingfield Park. From this start and end point, you’ll spend approximately 2-3 hours floating along the river’s relaxed current.

Thanks to its slow and steady flow, the Truckee is a quintessential river for tubing. Although, there are a few sections of rapids which are bound to get your blood pumping for a few thrilling seconds at a time.

Nothing says summer like spending the afternoon floating along the Truckee’s refreshing waters. It’s the perfect way to keep cool as the river winds through tall shady trees and underneath wooden bridges, but you will want to be sure to lather up on sunscreen for those exposed sections!
