Many of Seattle’s suburbs, like Woodinville, have been praised as great day trip destinations. Admittedly, Renton hasn’t really been one of them. While this vibrant mid-sized city has a lot to offer and has a great lakeside location, it has traditionally not been known for much, other than being home to Boeing and IKEA.

But spend a day exploring Renton and you just might discover how underrated it actually is. Here are a few things we recommend doing.

Renton is located 11 miles southeast of downtown Seattle, on the southeast shore of Lake Washington at the mouth of the Cedar River.
