The Damascus Pioneer Cemetery is old - very old. In fact, no one is sure when people first started burying people here, but it was sometime before 1855.

The land it sits on was first deeded for cemetery use in 1876. In 1895, the Damascus Cemetery Association was formed. People can still be buried here today, if they choose.

This cemetery is almost always deserted, so there’s a good chance that when you go there, you’ll be the only living people there. You aren’t supposed to enter the cemetery after dark - but then again, why would you?
