Brimming with great views, charming towns, and unique roadside attractions, Mississippi scenic byways are a great choice when craving a fun-filled adventure. In addition to well known routes, like the Great River Road National Scenic Byway, the state is home to some lesser-known routes, like the Gateway to History Scenic Byway, which takes drivers on a scenic tour through Mississippi history.

The Gateway to History Scenic Byway traverses rural Madison County – an area steeped in history and often revered as “one of the most beautiful areas within the state.”

Spanning just over 30 miles, the route begins in the town of Madison at the intersection of Highway 463 and Reunion Parkway.

Another great site, the Town of Livingston, lies at the crossroads of the scenic byway.

Nearly deserted at one point, the town has been rebuilt to replicate what it once was – a bustling community. Visitors today can explore a general store, farmers market, and more.
