Haunted towns and buildings are spread far and wide, but Mississippi seems to be especially ghostly. One of the most haunted towns in Mississippi is Meridian, which is a great place to stop by to scratch your eerie itch.

Located on the central-east edge of Mississippi, the town of Meridian was established in 1860, but it was mostly burned down during the Battle of Meridian just four years later.

The spooky highlight of Meridian is the Merrehope Mansion, which was built way back in 1858.

The Mansion is known for its paranormal activity.

Eugenia is the name of one of the alleged ghosts residing in Merrehope Mansion.

Google Merehope Eugenia never lived in the mansion in her earthly life, but a painting of her hangs on a wall in the Mansion. She is believed to have attached herself to the painting. She has been sighted numerous times within the room where her painting hangs. But not to worry, she is a benign ghost!

However, the other ghost that resides in the house is not so friendly.
