The trail offers all kinds of points of interest, mostly because it served as a former railroad route. Connecting Bristol, Virginia and Mendota, Virginia is a 12.5-mile trail that showcases a truly stunning region of the state.

Given that the trail is still under construction, there are still a few portions that aren’t open just yet.

Currently, hikers can enjoy six miles from Bristol and two miles from Mendota.

What sets this trail apart is that it follows the line of a former railroad. The City of Bristol purchased the railroad property and in 2016, it was deeded to Mountain Heritage, Inc., a non-profit committed to the trail’s development.
