There are a lot of great places to go when the weather is warm in Georgia. We’ve got lakes, waterfalls, and rivers where you can escape the heat with a dip in cool waters. One of our favorites is Mossy Creek Park, hidden away in the small town of Lula. This “park” is more like small water access area than a large state park with amenities, but it’s an absolutely fantastic hidden gem in rural Georgia for the whole family to enjoy some summer splashing in the sun. Parking is free and it’s a good spot for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, or tubing.
The recreation area is at the spot where Mossy Creek and the Chattahoochee River meet.

GPS can sometimes be inaccurate in this area.
Sandra Ridgeway/Google Maps To access Mossy Creek, you’ll need to take the gravel road marked Home Place Road. There is another, smaller, road nearby with the same name. The correct Home Place Road is unpaved, pretty narrow at points, and can get flooded out after rains, so drive with care and take an SUV or truck if possible.
This is a great, secluded spot to enjoy the peace and serenity of nature, whether you’re looking to meditate, read a book, or catch some fish.
