As one of only six restaurants in the “Midwest” category and the only one in Oklahoma to make the list, Ma Der Lao is making a big impact in the food scene. This Laotian restaurant is here to stay so if you enjoy trying new things and flavors, we highly suggest you give them a try.
Ma Der Lao Kitchen opened in 2021 in the Plaza District of Oklahoma City. They are open Tuesday - Saturday for lunch and dinner.

The interior of the restaurant has decorative wallpaper on the walls and a mix of booths and tables in the dining area. It’s on the smaller size but has a great atmosphere.

Right next to the dining area is a nice bar and pub-height tables. They have a full drink menu with cocktails, mocktails, beer, and wine.

They offer happy hour specials during the week from 3:00-6:00 p.m. if you’re looking to score a good deal. Can you say half-off cocktails?!?!

Laotian cuisine is similar to Thai food but Thai uses more of a coconut milk base and has bolder flavors, like curry. The staple food of the Lao is sticky rice.
