The Little Elk Canyon trail is five miles round trip. It’s rated as moderately difficult, but most people in relatively decent shape should be able to handle it.

The trail starts out on a nice, wide gravel pathway through the trees. It gets slightly more challenging as you go.

Don’t forget to look up! The canyon’s steep walls are really stunning, and the blue sky set against the tall trees is beautiful.

In some spots, you’ll get a full view of the interesting rock formations and sheer cliffs of the canyon as you turn a bend on the trail.

The creek crosses over some large, flat boulders. If you’re hot and sweaty, this is the perfect place for a little bit of wading.

The pretty little creek has little waterfalls and pools. You’ll definitely want to take your time on this hike. Sit on a rock and enjoy the scenery for a bit!
