Located in the northern foothills of the Olympic Mountains about 18 miles from Port Angeles, Lake Crescent is a true treasure.

In the summer, people love to visit the lake for kayaking, canoeing, or catch and release fishing.

The Devil’s Punchbowl is a popular place to beat the heat in the summer.

Speaking of hiking, there are quite a few day hikes near the lake you can enjoy in any season.

Lake Crescent was isolated by a massive landslide around 7,000 years ago , resulting in the cultivation of the Beardslee trout.

Interestingly enough, the lake also has a sinister story attached to it.

In a bizarre chemical transformation, the flesh had turned into a soap-like substance that could be scooped away like putty. Hallie, a victim of domestic violence from her womanizing husband, became known as the Lady of the Lake.

Despite its rather macabre story, Lake Crescent is a tranquil and relaxing place.
