It seems as if every day we’re hearing about another celebrity who visits Montana, buys or builds a home in Montana, or films a movie in Montana. But it isn’t often that we get to claim a Hollywood A-lister as a true Montanan.

Big Sky Country has been the birthplace of actors, musicians, athletes, authors, and politicians… but our most famous face is the beautiful Michelle Williams, who was born in Kalispell.

Kalispell, a small city in northwest Montana, is considered to be a gateway to Glacier National Park.

Charles Edward Conrad, a businessman and banker from Fort Benton, formed the Kalispell Townsite in the late 1800s with the help of three other men.

On September 9, 1980, Michelle Williams was born in Kalispell to politician and trader Larry R. Williams.

When she was nine, her family moved to San Diego.

Of course, Williams went on to become one of the most successful actresses in the U.S.

Over the years, Williams has starred in Blue Valentine, My Week with Marilyn (pictured here), Shutter Island, and so much more.

David McKears / Wikipedia She has been called one of the best and most underrated actresses of our time. Watching her work, it’s hard to argue with that assessment.

It’s wild to think such a successful and well-known person was born right here in Kalispell.
