There is nothing like the feeling that you are on top of the world, and when you conquer the Bald Mountain Trail in Utah’s Uinta Mountains, this is exactly how you will feel. Bald Mountain sits 11,943 feet above sea level and it is one of the highest peaks in the Uinta Mountains. The hike to Bald Mountain isn’t as intimidating as it might sound. This 2.7-mile out-and-back trail is well-trafficked, making it easy to follow.

The trail is moderate in difficulty. From the trailhead, you will be climbing nearly 2,000 feet in elevation. This means that most of your time on the trail will be a steady climb.

Despite a bit of a challenge, every step of this trail is worth it. As you hike, take your time to admire the scenery along the way. You will capture views of Mirror Lake Scenic Byway as well as multiple lakes on your journey. On a clear day, you should be able to see miles away.

As you approach the summit, you will begin to follow a ridge. Don’t look down as there are drops on either side. Make sure to stay on the trail and watch your feet — you’ll be just fine.
