Utah has grown by leaps and bounds in the last few decades; once small towns have grown to medium-sized ones (at least by Utah standards). Of course, you can still find many cute small towns in Utah. This list isn’t meant to be a “Best Of.” It’s simply a list of a few small towns we think are great (in no particular order!). We chose towns with populations between 600 and 6,000, though many residents living in towns with populations of 10,000 or even 20,000 might enjoy that small-town atmosphere.
- Mount Pleasant, Sanpete County, pop. 3,500
Jimmy Emerson, DVM/flickr The historic 19th-century shops on Mount Pleasant’s Main Street are still filled with thriving local businesses today. This small town may just win the prize for “Most Adorable Main Street.” Mount Pleasant, Mt Pleasant, UT 84647, USA
- Huntsville, Weber County, pop. 700
Joe Barney/flickr Most visitors to Huntsville stop by while they’re boating, fishing, or splashing in Pineview Reservoir, but this little town has much more to offer than meets the eye. Visit the Huntsville History Museum and take a tour of the first cabin built in the town in 1861. If you really want to get a taste of history, visit the Shooting Star Saloon, which has the distinction of being Utah’s longest-operating bar. Huntsville, UT 84317, USA
- Kanab, Kane County, pop. 4,800
Jen/flickr Stop by Kanab on any given day, and you’re likely to find some diverse folks. The community is home to many farmers and ranchers, but is also often home to Hollywood film crews, makeup artists and actors. Drive around the town to find many historic homes and buildings, and stop by the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary for a visit. Kanab, UT 84741, USA
- Kamas, Summit County, pop. 2,600
Tom Kelly/flickr Kamas sees its share of visitors. The town bills itself as “The Gateway to the Uintas,” and that’s exactly what it is. Kamas is the last stop on the way to the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, so stop and get a meal at one of its several restaurants. Kamas, UT 84036, USA
- Fillmore, Millard County, pop. 2,600
Ken Lund/flickr If you don’t already know, Fillmore was the original capital city of Utah. The Utah Territorial Statehouse still stands and is the oldest government building in the state. Visitors don’t come to Fillmore today for state politics, they come for its ATV trails. The town hosts an annual National ATV Jamboree – you can hop on your ATV right from your motel and hit the trails! Fillmore, UT 84631, USA
- Midway, Wasatch County, pop. 5,200
Andrew @RelajateconAna on YouTube/flickr Midway hosts its annual Swiss Days every year in September; the festival brings thousands of visitors to the little town. Other tourists come to stay at The Homestead, where they play 18 holes at the golf course or scuba dive in the geo-thermal pool. Midway, UT 84049, USA
- Moab, Grand County, pop. 5,300
By Hurricanehink via Wikimedia Commons This cute small town in Utah is host to thousands of visitors each year; outdoor recreation opportunities abound. The influx of tourists allows Moab to support dozens of restaurants and numerous art galleries. Moab, UT 84532, USA
- Morgan, Morgan County, pop. 4,300
J. Stephen Conn/flickr Morgan is a vibrant little community where residents enjoy the great outdoors, then gather together for community events at the park. Visitors come for skiing at Snowbasin and kayaking on the Weber river. Get a great deal at the Browning Outlet Store and grab some delicious chicken at the Spring Chicken Inn. On your way to Morgan, on Interstate 84, you’ll pass Devil’s Slide, a well-known Utah landmark that has quite a fascinating history and many Utahns have no clue. Morgan, UT 84050, USA
- Mona, Juab County, pop. 1,700
ka2rina/flickr Nestled at the base of Mount Nebo, Mona is well-known for its lavender fields and annual Lavender Festival. Mona, UT, USA
- Monroe, Sevier County, pop. 2,300
Ken Lund/flickr This town is known as Little Green Valley because of all its green pastures and fields. Tourists visit Monroe to soak in Mystic Hot Springs; South Sevier High School draws students from smaller neighboring communities. Monroe, UT 84754, USA

cute small towns in utah September 16, 2022 Courtnie Erickson What are some cute small towns in Utah that I should visit? Here in the Beehive State, we are home to dozens of cute small towns. One of our favorites is the charming town of Panguitch. This southern Utah town truly has it all — gorgeous views, a darling downtown area, exciting summer festivals, and delightful places to stay. It is also within a short drive of popular outdoor destinations including Bryce Canyon National Park and Panguitch Lake. Plus, this small town is considered one of the best towns to live in Utah and after your visit, you’ll quickly see why. Another small town in Utah that you’ll want to add to your travel bucket list is the town of Brigham City. This is another small town that is near many unique attractions like Golden Spike National Historic Park and the Spiral Jetty. Make sure you stop at Maddox Ranch House, which serves incredible rolls and turkey steaks. What are safe small towns in Utah that I should consider? If you are looking to put down roots in one of the cute small towns in Utah, there are many safe places to consider. While there will always be crime of some sort in each town, there are some small towns that are safer to live in than others. We sat down and actually created a list of the safest towns in Utah to call home. Some of the peaceful towns on the list include Spanish Fork, Pleasant Grove, Clinton, and even Saratoga Springs. Can you think of any others that deserve to be on this list?
